What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is the first and only FDA approved injectable treatment for the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles. It is used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines.

How does BOTOX® work?

BOTOX® works by temporarily reducing the muscle activity that is responsible for forming wrinkles and fine lines in the face. BOTOX® is injected directly into these facial muscles using a syringe. The procedure is minimally invasive and only takes a few minutes to perform. Results are not immediate and usually begin to appear within 24-48 hours.

Who is a good candidate for BOTOX®?

Everyone is different, so candidates for BOTOX® injections can vary quite a bit. Age, diet, genetics and environmental factors all play a role in how and when these lines begin to form for each person. The severity of these lines usually determines when someone begins to seek assessment and treatment. BOTOX® injections are suitable for men and women of all ages. Typically, we begin to treat patients in their 20s for subtle skin improvements and anti-aging goals. Some patients begin treatment a late as their 80s to combat more severe line formations.

Is BOTOX® a safe and effective treatment?

BOTOX® injectable treatments have been approved for use in 95 countries. With over 16 years of proven success through research studies, BOTOX® has the longest track record for safety and effectiveness amongst other injectable cosmetic treatments. When a BOTOX® treatment is performed by an experienced injector, it is one of the safest, most effective procedures to minimize or eliminate lines and wrinkles.

How do I prepare for a BOTOX® injection?

There is no preparation needed for a BOTOX® treatment. Your consultation and procedure can take place during the same visit. The injections only take a few minutes to complete.

What should I expect following the procedure?

Patients receiving BOTOX® injectables require little to no downtime. Generally, it takes 24-48 hours for the full results to appear. For some patients, the effect of the treatment can take up to 5 days to fully appear.

How long does BOTOX® last?

BOTOX® can last anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the treatment area and the patient’s genetics, metabolism, lifestyle and other factors.
