Dermatology
The skin is the largest organ in the body; it serves as defense against disease, plays a role in temperature regulation, and is often a reflection of internal health. Dermatologists are medical doctors and surgeons who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of over 3000 disorders of the hair, skin, and nails.
A board-certified dermatologist is the most experienced in diagnosing and treating skin diseases. At SIH, our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Hal A. Lewis, MD, FAAD, has completed 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, a year-long medicine internship, and 3 years of dermatology specific medical training. In addition, he has completed and passed the board examination by the American Board of Dermatology.
